Learn, Unlearn, Relearn

Is Change Worth Trying?

Change is constant and often undirected, but growth only exists where an observer resides. If undirected, it’s the observers burden to choose whether they pursue growth or not (Given only they can define it). It is not the pursuit of growth that causes change, but optimism allows an observer to perceive more positive change.

If optimism is free, and can create a perception of reality which is more enjoyable, allow optimism to take precedence.

Agents / Advisors

Weekly on Thursdays, I demonstrate prospecting and operations concepts for entrepreneurs to use in their business. I present an open floor structure so it is an interactive conversation more than a lecture. Guests include financial advisors from across the US, agency principals, and local business owners.

The foundation of my discussions are skills that I believe an entrepreneur needs to maintain in some balance to ethically transact business. This foundation can be reduced into 5 skills or pillars which support “the arches of compliance and ethics” which overlay all businesses.

The five pillars are Finding, Teaching, Selling, Closing, and Servicing. Each of these pillars is anchored in the base of the structure which is “operations.” My diagram below shows a mental picture of this structure which is “a successful business.”

Learn, Unlearn, and Relearn

My approach to training is rooted in fallibilism and intuition. I view business as an art not a science. A founder is continuously carving his sculpture, even after he’s created a “masterpiece.” For this reason, I believe in training and learning continuously. My experience shows me that teaching is a vital aspect of learning and this inspires my open floor format. On Thursdays I talk through how each of these pillars can be strengthened, positioned, and grounded to support you along your journey from being a dreamer to an owner.

FTSCS

Each session, I’ll discuss one of these 5 skills and use first principles to share ways in which entrepreneurs can hone these skills and improve their business. To join me in strategy this Thursday, Click on me below.
